Best Ways to Reach Yumthang Valley
• By Air: Although the closest airport is the Pakyong Airport near Gangtok, the Bagdogra International Airport has better flight connectivity. It is 220 km away from Yumthang.
• By Rail: New Jalpaiguri Railway Station is the best and nearest railhead option to Yumthang Valley, approximately 215 km away.
• By Road: Book a cab and reach Gangtok when arriving by train or flight. From there either continue with the same cab or board a bus that will take you to Lachung. From Lachung plan a day trip to Yumthang Valley.
Best Time to Visit
The ideal time to explore Yumthang Valley in Sikkim is from late February to mid-June and again from September to November. During these months, the valley is at its most beautiful. It’s best to avoid visiting during the monsoon season (July to August) due to heavy rainfall and the risk of landslides. Winter (December to January) is very cold, and heavy snowfall can occasionally block the roads.
