Dooars: The northeast part of WB along the foothill of Eastern Himalaya is known as Dooars . A major stretch of the area is bordered in the north by Bhutan and hence the name - Dooars means Door of Bhutan. In fact it is the gateway of northeast states of India and also Bhutan. The park is located on the bank of rivers Murti and Raidak and has vegetation of riverine grasslands interspersed with savannah woodlands. This entire landscape along the foot hill from Siliguri to Cochbihar is studded with lash green acres of Tea gardens, number of Wildlife Sanctuaries, a National Park and a Tiger Reserve. Wild orchids, the rich wildlife including Leopard, Tiger, Elephants , and Indian one horn Rhino is the main attraction of this area. Much of the forest is moist deciduous and sal is the most common and valuable tree. Teak, simul, siris, khair are also found here. The diversified human races including several Tribes with there individual culture and character made the area as ideal home of eco-tourism.
