Sikkim is a flawless beauty. There is nowhere in the world as vast and stimulating, yet modestly welcoming and good-natured, like Sikkim, especially North Sikkim. Sikkim is a serene state and discovering it on foot and via public transport lets, you gather every minute detailing of the state. This is superbly beautiful and you have a handful of reasons to be here I would have a special mention for North Sikkim as I had a gala time there meeting with nature in a unique way.
People from all walks of life, all educationists, all ethnicities, and all ages and with varied interests come here to hop into the place to know its beauty closely. There’s just so much to do! It is also a great state for solo travelers due to its diversity.
Today my whole attention-grabbing factor is Mt Katao which is the part of North Sikkim. The distance between Gangtok and Mt. Katao is only 44 km. This is one of the sight-oriented and totally made for adventure lovers who like their indulgence in activities like skiing, snow tubing, snowboarding, and grinding during the winter season and this is also the right time to visit here. The backdrop of the mountain imbibes a splendid view to its onlookers. To enter this destination you need to have a permit.
The place is layered with natural vegetation which is the sums up the poppy, rhododendron, and primula. Once you reach here you are ultimately diving into adventurous sports activities. The height of 15000 ft of Mount Katao is covered with snow all year. This amazing place is situated at an elevation of 15000 feet and remains covered in snow almost throughout the year. You can have wonderful views all around so no place exists where you won’t find exquisiteness.
Best Time to Explore Mt. Katao
This exotic place is no wonder can be best explored from March to June. During winter from December to February the exploration of this place will be at another level.
How to Be Here in Mt Katao
Mt Katao is situated at a distance of 28 km from Lachung. You better hire a taxi or personal vehicle to reach here. A permit needs to be taken from the army base in Siliguri.
