This is for the first time since May, Sikkim’s border at Rangpo and Melli will not do the Covid-19 test.
Now the new change done by the State’s Home Department on inter-state movement, “All the people need to carry RT-PCR negative report conducted within 72 hours or the people who have taken first vaccination of COVID 19 are allowed to enter”.
No checking would be done at any of the check posts. The police and government agencies will take a charge for free movement of vehicles and passengers, the notification released on September 24 states.
“The Government notified on September 27 at World Tourism Day, (negative RT-PCR) must be verified by the hotels where tourists are staying. The whole procedure would be checked by the Sikkim Tourism Department,”
The check will be done in different categories so in the case of migrant labours, checking would be done by the contractors. For those working in unorganized sectors, the State Labour Department would be conducting sample checking at the time of doing mandatory registration, as notification suggest.
All restrictions are for outsiders while there are no restrictions on the Sikkim’s resident for sample checking. But for those who are from other states must be ready for sample checking for Covid-19. These guidelines will be taking into consideration till October 4.
