The Himalayan wonderland Sikkim is a small beauteous state of India enclosed by borderlines of several countries. Airways:
There is no direct airport in the state. The airport to Sikkim is in Bagdogra in West Bengal approximately 124 Kms from Gangtok. Bagdogra airport is well connected with Kolkata, Delhi, Patna, Imphal and Guwahati. Once you arrive Bagdogra it takes only 05 hours by road in bus, or via cabs to reach Sikkim.
Roadways:
The National Highway 31A is known to be the lifeline of Sikkim as it connects Gangtok with Siliguri. Tourist prefer to go by roadways because the whole stretches passes through the lush green forests along the bank of River Teesta on one side and picturesque mountains on the other side makes lifetime memorable journey. The distance is around 114 Kms.
By Railways:
Sikkim falls in hilly region so it does not encompass any rail network in its periphery. New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal is the nearest railway station which is around 125 Kms from Gangtok the capital.
