Being the Himalayan state in Northeast India, Sikkim is one of the heavenly and breathtaking hill stations, renowned for many reasons. Therefore, the mandate to apply for Restricted Area Permit (RAP) and Protected Area Permit (PAP) for foreign travelers visiting for Sikkim tourism can now apply from October onwards for the upcoming tourist season. As said by the Officials, the travelers can apply online from the assigned websites for the Restricted Area Permit and the Protected Area Permit, as the website is under development for the same reason and will be fully functioning from the month of October.
In order to visit Sikkim, the tourists must procure the Restricted Area Permit (RAP) along with the valid Indian visa.
This was announced by the Sikkim Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang in advance on the occasion of Independence Day in his speech about the applications for RAP and PAP for foreign tourists. Also, the Travel Agents Association of Sikkim (TAAS) thanked the Chief Minister for the announcement of RAP and PAP for the foreign tourists, as this was the longtime demand of the TAAS because the state was depended 60 per cent on tourism and this was mandatory, said an official of TAAS.
Due to its unique geography and proximity to the international borders, Sikkim is bounded by West Bengal, Bhutan, Nepal, and Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Sikkim is difficult to travel and even enter to some areas; therefore, one needs an entry permit from the departments concerned. Nevertheless, the thrill of innumerous adventures the Sikkim Tourism offers with its many must-see attractions is incomparable as it offers something for everyone, whether it’s rafting, trekking, a monastery walk, or enjoying the active nightlife. Such alluring activities fascinate the tourists from all over the world and experience the thrill along with relishing scenic beauty of the Himalayan state.
